Should I Hire a Wedding Videographer? The Answer is YES.

If your parents were like mine, their wedding might have been recorded with the cutting-edge technology of the 80’s and 90’s. This means a grainy VHS camcorder propped up on a tripod at the back of the church. If the camera ever was removed from the tripod, it was only to do a horrible shaky-zoom on their giddy smiles. Thankfully, we now have technology and equipment that allow us to see (and hear) every little detail of a wedding day with crystal clarity. But video is really just a plus on your wedding day, right?

That’s what Moving Mountains Studios founders, Bryson and Kelly Allen, thought when they got married in 2017, “Wedding videography wasn’t as popular at the time so we didn’t really think about it until after the fact,” Kelly says, “It wasn’t until we saw some friends of ours who had gotten it that we realized how much we missed out on.”

At the time, Bryson and Kelly were already working in the wedding industry, but only doing photography, “We definitely thought photography was the most important thing, and it is important! Looking back though, we wish we had budgeted for video.”

While their wedding photographer, Vera Gayazov, was totally amazing, they both say they wish they’d have had someone giving them the option of adding video, “That’s what’s cool about Moving Mountains,” Kelly adds, “You have all of those options!”

Capture the moments you’ll miss

The truth is, even if you try your hardest to soak in every second of your wedding day, it goes by fast, and you’re inevitably going to miss so much. You can only be in one place at a time, after all! Think about what else you’ll be able to cherish with a quality wedding video. Your groom getting ready and goofing off with his best friends. Your little niece or nephew storming the dance floor while you’re off signing your marriage certificate. Whatever it is, there are so many precious moments to be captured that you may not see in the flesh.

Remember the moments you shared

Then there’s the moments you were able to see, but never want to forget! “Bryson was crying his eyeballs out! On my way down the aisle, he was crying and so was I. I wish I was able to see that moment again and see just how much we love each other!”

Kelly continues, “I love that our goal with Moving Mountains is to allow our clients to relive those moments and remember the vows they made to each other. We all need that reminder when things aren’t perfect.”

Share with the people who couldn’t be there

One last reason to hire a quality wedding videographer is for the people you love who weren’t able to share the day with you.

“I wanted to show people who weren’t there!” Kelly says, “I have friends now that I didn’t have back then! Not to mention family members who weren’t able to come. I’d want them to be able to share those things. A video is just different from photos. It just is.”

Your wedding is going to be one big, ‘You had to be there’ moment! You’ll want to be sure everyone who wants to can share that moment with you.

At the end of the day, photos decorate your space, but your video decorates time. It doesn’t feel like the past, because it’s moments in motion. Every time you watch it, you’ll be transported back in time to the magic of your once-in-a-lifetime experience!

“It puts me right back in the moment…”

Moving Mountains bride, Tiffany Cochran, emphasized it well, “When I watch our video, it puts me right back in the moment. I remember every feeling and moment of the day, and how blessed I am that I found my person and we’ve started our forever.”

This is just one among multiple expressions of gratitude from our wonderful Moving Mountains brides!

“These guys. Holy cow. Words can’t describe how thankful I am for their work. They came to our Covid-19 wedding and made it the most amazing experience ever. I will forever cherish our video. I will always regret not getting our pictures made by them. Silly mistake, but I have the video for forever. I will definitely use them again for every milestone we have during mine and Will’s life together. Amazing, Godly, people!” Natalie Johnson

“Our wedding film was EXACTLY what we were wanting. It made us laugh. It made us cry. It caught moments that, as the bride and groom, you don’t always get to witness day-of. It allowed us to relive our day in ways nothing else could and is something we will cherish forever.” Amber Edwards

“I love that they really cared about our personality as a couple to produce photos and a BOMB video that truly reflected us.” Rae Hackney

So should you hire a wedding videographer?

Absolutely yes!! DON’T make it an afterthought! We talk to brides all the time who tell us they’ll add video IF there’s any leftover room in the budget… um, girl, this is not “extra”, this should be a priority! Your wedding flowers will die within days, the dancing will be over, your champagne and decorations will be long gone. When everything else is said and done, there will be nothing that can take the place of hearing the voice of your groom pledging his love to you forever, or your father’s tears when he saw you for the first time. Your wedding day happens ONCE, so don’t miss it!
